Our Story
2nd Generation Family-Owned Citrus and Avocado Farm
Welcome to Tyrconnell Valley Pty Ltd, a citrus and avocado farm based out of Paddy's Green in Mareeba. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that our produce is of the highest quality, while also maintaining environmentally conscious and sustainable farming practices. We take pride in our strong relationships with stakeholders throughout major capital cities along both the eastern and western coasts of Australia.
The beginning of the Carusi Farm
From humble beginnings, Angelo and Dita Carusi began share farming tobacco in 1962, to eventually purchasing the farm in 1971 where the family owned business was then created. The land was used for farming tobacco under the Carusi name from 1971 to 2009, ending due to the decline of the tobacco growing industry in Australia. Along with majority of farmers in the Mareeba/Dimbulah region, Angelo and Dita had to diversify their crops into other agricultural industries.
Diversifying into different crops was tried and tested many times as they planted tomatoes, peaches, nectarines, plums, grapes, cucumbers, and watermelons. However, Angelo and his son Anthony Carusi, found limes and avocados to be the crop best suited for the Carusi family.

Anthony and Loredana Carusi then later bought the farm off Angelo and Dita in 2014, where they have continued to grow limes and avocados.

The Farm Today
At Tyrconnell Valley Pty Ltd, Tahitian Limes and Shepard Avocados are primarily grown on the farm. As well as contractual work including the usage of the farm's packing facilities to pack produce for neighbouring farmers, these being limes and lemons. Using the latest technology, our packing equipment allows us to produce a high volume of high quality and consistent produce for all stakeholders involved. Our farm sells to wholesalers in majority of capital cities across Australia. Additionally, we produce mulch hay to use on the soil surface under limes and avocados which is sourced by baling farms across Mareeba .
